To Cyclists - NCHRP Project 08-135: Reliability and Quality of Service Evaluation Methods for Rural Highways

Survey to Cyclists to Identify Potential Improvements to HCM Bicycle Level of Service Evaluation Methodology for Rural Highways

Welcome to the NCHRP Project 08-135 Bicycle Users Survey! The National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has initiated Project 08-135 to develop the multimodal quality of service predictive methodologies for rural highway facilities.

We are conducting a 15-minute survey to identify the preferences and characteristics of cyclists that use the road infrastructure in the US. If you are a US resident, and 18 or older, we kindly invite you to participate. For this survey, respondents do not require any kind of previous/current experience in bicycle facilities - your input is important for conducting this research.

This survey is used exclusively for research purposes. This survey has been approved by the University of Florida Institutional Review Board (IRB#: 20220213), which oversees research studies involving human subjects. The record of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information. We can provide you with a summary of the results if you provide your contact information on a separate survey. Your responses will not be attached between surveys, so your contact information will not be associated back to your responses.

If you have any additional questions about this survey please contact Dr. Ana Moreno (ana.moreno@tum.de), or questions about the overall project, please contact Dr. Scott Washburn (swash@ce.ufl.edu). The contact information of the University of Florida Institutional Review Board is: Telephone: (352) 392-0433; Email: irb@ufl.edu; Office Location: Ruth K & Shepard Broad Building, 1300 Center Drive, PO Box 100173, Gainesville, FL 32610-0173.

The survey will be open until January 31st, 2023.

Because enrollment is mediated by Prolific, which abides by the EU's data protections rules, we need to provide you with a statement about those protections, see General Data Protection Regulation Addendum

If you agree to do the survey please proceed.

The NCHRP 08-135 research team is composed of the University of Florida, Montana State University, Kittelson & Associates and the Technical University of Munich.

The National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) is a national research program carried out through the collaborative efforts of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). The NCHRP is administered by the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and sponsored by the individual State departments of transportation (DOTs) of the AASHTO in cooperation with the FHWA. This program affords a unique partnership between State, Federal, and private sector transportation experts. Any opinions and conclusions expressed or implied in resulting research products are those of the individuals and organizations who performed the research and are not necessarily those of TRB; NASEM; or NCHRP sponsors.
